It's that fun time again, where everyone is scrambling madly to plot out their lives and enroll for classes. After several hours, multiple index cards, and two separate flowcharts, I settled upon a schedule that would enable me to make satisfactory progress toward both of my majors (no small feat when one is English and one is Computer Science...)
I filled out the schedule, got everything approved, and even managed to eke in room for Intro to Artificial Intelligence, and then...
I got a phone call. And I got a job offer. And then that lovely, meticulously planned schedule went out the window.
I'm starting a Cooperative Education job next semester. I'll be working at Tekelec, testing servers and programs for 4G phone networks, trying to hold them to a standard of 5 9's of reliability. (It was explained to me that 99.999% accuracy was the lowest acceptable level for their phone coverage, since emergency calls need to go through. Period.)
Eventually, I'll get back to Intro to Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Intermediate Fiction Writing, and Intro to Psychology. Eventually. But for right now, I'm going to take that job, learn to excell at it, and carry it out as far as it can possibly go.
