I don't know about you but a lot of my friends and family just nod their head any time I start talking about my latest project and frankly it can be a little frustrating. I mean all I want to do is talk about all the fancy php magics I cooked up in the last week at Oracle. Is that really so much to ask? So will I try to give someone a taste of the coding that I have grown so fond of? Well yes, hopefully. I am all for teaching them even a little bit about coding! The difficulty is getting whoever I try to enlighten to approach it all with an open mind. I've noticed that quite a few people just assume they can't understand computer science topics. But just like with anything else if you approach programming assuming it will fly right over your head then it in fact will. So I think the lofty goal of this enterprise is to show people that some programming can be done by anyone.
Beyond that I know that learning a little bit about coding will help them understand the potential, and the limitations, of the products that have become such an integral part of all of our lives and hopefully they'll start to understand why I love technology and programming as much as I do!
